The San Francisco FlameThrowers are excited to announce that Byron Liu will be joining the team for the 2016 AUDL season.

Although a newcomer to the Bay Area, Byron arrives on the scene with a thick ultimate resume. A graduate of Emory University, Byron has played with Atlanta-based Open club team Chain Lightning since 2011. He won gold in Toronto with the 2013 U-23 Open team and earned a coveted spot on the US Mixed team for the 2015 World Championship of Beach Ultimate in Dubai where he took home the bronze. He made his AUDL debut with the Atlanta Hustle in 2015 in an injury-shortened season.

Said FlameThrowers coach Joshua Greenough, “We couldn’t be happier to give Byron a chance to show his skills to the Bay Area community. Obviously he had choices and we hope his decision validates our goal of helping players develop to their full potential.

Byron added, “The Bay Area has so many talented players and I look forward to the challenge and opportunity of playing with them. I can’t wait to get started and help the FlameThrowers compete for the AUDL title in 2016.”

The FlameThrowers have made the playoffs in both of their first two seasons of competition, and are looking to go farther in 2016. Said co-founder Michael Kinstlick, “Making a run for the title starts with talented players like Byron, but it also requires teamwork and chemistry. We’re looking forward to building a team that becomes greater than even the considerable talents of the individual players.”

The FlameThrowers expect to make more announcements on their 2016 roster soon.
