The San Francisco FlameThrowers are thrilled to announce that Marcelo Sanchez will be joining the team for the 2016 AUDL season.

Marcelo is a Bay-Area native, playing at East Bay’s Las Positas college before finishing his studies at UC Davis. He announced his arrival on the AUDL scene in his 2014 rookie season with San Jose by being named a league “break-out player of the year.” And then backed it up with a quietly dominant 2015 performance in which he played every game for the champion Spiders, leading them in assists, and finishing 4th in goals-scored, and 2nd in D’s.

Said Marcelo, “I really appreciate the opportunity I’ve had to play with the Spiders and want to thank that organization and its fans for all they’ve done. Now I’m excited to join the FlameThrowers and build chemistry with dynamic young players like Greg Cohen and Lucas Dallmann. I’m also looking forward to being closer to home and taking my game to the next level.”

FlameThrowers coach Joshua Greenough noted, “Marcelo is crazily athletic and makes those plays that amaze you, but he complements it with decision-making beyond most players his age. We think he’s a league MVP-in-waiting.”

The FlameThrowers are committed to competing for the AUDL title. Said co-founder Josh Langenthal, “The Bay Area has many talented ultimate players. We want to provide a great experience for players who believe in our long-term vision, because fans feed off that joy.”

The FlameThrowers expect to make more announcements on their 2016 roster soon.
